In the morning we include a city tour of Barcelona, considered one of the most interesting European capitals, open to the Mediterranean Sea, famous for Gaudi and its modernist architecture, also for the ramblas and the memories of the Universal Exhibitions and Olympics that took place there. Free time in the afternoon. In the evening we include a transfer to the Maremagnum, a modern leisure center and restaurants facing the sea, next to Plaza Colon, where you can stroll through this lively area and dine. Day 3: Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia (303 km) |

We will journey south along the Mediterranean, making a special stop in Peniscola, a small walled town on the shores of the sea. After a short introduction by our guide, you can make your own way through town, discovering its fishing port, the castle and beach at your own leisure. We will then travel to Valencia, where we will have time to have lunch. A local guide will take you on a tour of the city in the afternoon. In the tour we will learn about its historic city centre, the fish market, the cathedral and the avant-garde City of Arts and Sciences. Peniscola is a beautiful walled town and its castle by the sea. Valencia is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. The Port of Valencia is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and busiest container port on the Mediterranean Sea.

Today we will continue our trip and head to Alicante. We will have time to take a walk in this charming, coastal city and, after lunch, we will make our way to the Murcia region, where we will visit Caravaca de la Cruz, a town considered by the Catholic Church as one of the five holy cities. Its church holds a relic of Christ’s Cross. We will also take a train ride up to its historic area, which we can explore, before we continue our trip along scenic roads on our way to Andalusia. We will end the day in Granada. A city and port in Spain on the Costa Blanca. It is also a historic Mediterranean port. Amongst the most notable features of the city are the Castle of Santa Barbara, which sits high above the city, and the port of Alicante. In the afternoon we will visit Alhambra Palace and its Generalife gardens. Free time in afternoon, during which you can visit the cathedral that houses the tomb of the Catholic Monarchs. Granada is a mid-sized provincial capital in the Andalucia region of Spain. Rich in history and culture, Granada is arguably the single most worthwhile city in Spain for visitors. Spring and autumn are also both excellent times to visit.

Departure from Granada. We cross the Costa del Sol. In Algeciras or Tarifa we board a modern ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The coach does not normally make the crossing, so passengers must carry their luggage. Arrival in Morocco. We will journey through beautiful landscapes. Stop in the picturesque, ocean front town of Asilah. Time for lunch before we will resume our trip. Arrival in Rabat. Dinner buffet and accommodation included. IMPORTANT NOTE: Until the reestablishment of the maritime connection between Spain and Morocco, an alternative route will be proposed by taking a flight from Malaga to Tangier where, after a brief tour of the city, we will depart to Asilah to continue with the planned journey. In this case, we will inform you about a supplement that will be charged for the airline ticket to be booked in order to make the connection. We will go on a scenic tour of Rabat in which we will visit the immense Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the mighty Kasbah of the Udayas. At midday, we will travel to Casablanca,where we will have a short but informative tour of the city. The tour includes a visit to the outside of what is considered one of the most important mosques in the Arab world, the great Hassan II mosque. Then, we will head to Marrakech. After arriving at the hotel, you will be able to experience a traditional Kalesa ride up to the famous Djema square. Dinner buffet included. Rabat is the capital and fourth largest city of Morocco. We will start the day with a guided tour of the city which gave the country its name. We will get to know the great walls of the city, the bustling Jemaa square, walk through the colorful Medina and see the Kutubia tower. We will visit to the Bahia Palace (ticket included). Lunch included. There will be free time in the afternoon: you can take a rest in the pool and the garden of the hotel, or walk around the Medina with its many shops, riads (small hotels), and restaurants established in beautiful historical buildings which have been perfectly preserved. We strongly recommend visiting the area where the “Secret Garden” and the Music Museum are located. In the evening, you can experience a Fantasia dinner and cultural show (optional). We will journey across the Atlas Mountains as their, usually snow-capped, high peaks will greet us as we say goodbye to Marrakech. Small Berber villages perch on the side of chasms. We will interrupt our journey to stop at the fortified village of Ait Benhadou, a place where several films have been filmed. At this point in our trip, our route will be going through the so-called biblical landscapes. We will spend some time in Ourzazate city with its impressive Kasbah. We will continue toward the valley of Roses. Boulmane Dades. NOTE: On very rare occasions (during winter), the roads may be closed due to snowdrifts. If necessary, this section of the itinerary will be rescheduled according to our alternative itinerary. (Whether we can visit the Sahara or not will depend on road access). A journey full of excitement in the Sahara Desert: the Valley of the Kasbahs; river valleys containing thousands of palm trees; Stone plains followed by oasis and adobe villages, powerful fortresses defending the thoroughfares. We will visit the stunningly magnificent Todgha. On the way there, we shall stop at a small town built with adobe next to Khorbat, visitors will be able to learn about this desert community, which is supported by the Europamundo Foundation. Erfoud is known as the âGate of the Sahara Desertâ. It is also a great destination for filmmakers due to the quality of the natural light and the beauty of the surrounding villages and desert oases. We'll depart early from Erfoud, crossing the Atlas Mountains amidst impressive gorges and stunning landscapes. We'll traverse a high, cold plateau inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Our first stop will be in Midelt, located at the heart of this region. After lunch, we´ll continue our journey towards the Middle Atlas, where the scenery changes dramatically to a region characterized by forests and frequent winter snowfall. Near AZROU, in the National Park, we'll visit "The House of Cedars", a small museum providing insights into the region. Here, we'll also see the colonies of monkeys that inhabit the area. We'll continue to Bhalil, a small and quiet village home to Berbers of the Middle Atlas. Its old center is very picturesque, with colorful streets. Traditionally, the population lived in caves, which have now been integrated into the houses. Continuing onward, we´ll head to Fez. Before reaching our hotel, we'll take in the panoramic view of the city from the Saadian Tombs. Dinner will be provided. We will have some free time in Tangier, a good chance for some last-minute shopping, perhaps? We will return to Spain by ferry. The coach will not travel on board the ferry, therefore, each passenger will be required to carry their own piece of luggage with them. We will arrive in Algeciras or Tarifa and continue on to Seville. Evening arrival. Note: Until the reestablishment of the maritime connection between Morocco and Spain, there will be proposed an alternative program that will include a flight from Tangier to Malaga to continue your journey. In the morning we include a city tour. You will be able to see the cathedral and its famous Giralda, the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and the popular neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana. After the visit we will include a boat ride along the Guadalquivir River. Enjoy the panoramic views from the boat. In the evening we offer you the possibility to attend a popular flamenco tablao. We will leave Seville among pleasant landscapes of soft mountains and large pasture lands, we travel towards Extremadura. Merida, entrance included to the archaeological complex of the Roman Theater and Amphitheater, of excellent conservation, World Heritage Site. Time to have lunch and a walk in the pleasant pedestrian historic center with lots of life and restaurants. We will continue to Portugal, making a stop in Evora, a city also declared a World Heritage Site, with its white streets,its Renaissance palaces and its cathedral. Lisbon, arrival at the evening. Merida is a destination that brings the old Roman Empire back to life. This World Heritage City boasts a Roman theatre which is over 2,000 years old and is still in use. Evora is a city and a municipality in Portugal. Due to its well-preserved old town centre, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, and a large number of monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, Evora is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the morning we will have a city tour, during which we will get to know the Portuguese capital of the 7 hills, the alleys and the tiles, the "saudade" and the Atlantic light. We will also approach the Belem neighborhood, from where the great Portuguese navigators, who crossed the oceans in the 15th century, left. Free time in the afternoon to walk and go to the Bairro Alto and its viewpoint; if you´d like to, you could take an optional excursion to the towns of Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. In the evening we return from the Restauradores Square, full of atmosphere with its bars and cafes, to the hotel.
